In 2005 I graduated from the Okanagan Valley College of Massage Therapy and became a Registered Massage Therapist. I worked in spas in New Zealand, in multidisciplinary clinics in Vancouver, and from my home in the Kootaneys. Currently I'm offering appointments from my home based clinic between UVic & Cadboro Bay.
As a trauma-informed therapist-in training I believe, with the proper support, that our bodies and nervous systems have the inate ability and wisdom to heal. I gently encourage the curiosity of the sensations your body is informing us and how we can all be an active participants in our healing journey. I approach each individual with compassion and reverence to our connection of our physical body and our mind. While I do not offer "deep tissue" massages when indicated working on deeper structures can have a profound affect on your nervous system. I do incorporate many techniques including: Myofascial release, Craniosacral therapy, Muscle Energy, Neuromuscular therapy and invitations for home care.
With the birth of my son in 2011 and my daughter in 2014 it gave me a great deal of appreciation for massage therapy as necessary support during postpartum and now as a parent. When I'm not with my treatment table, I'm cycling with my family around Victoria, experimenting in my kitchen with a new Smitten Kitchen recipe, watching the latest episode of Baroness Von Sketch Show or escaping with a good book.
